Marjane Satrapi (Rasht, Iran, 1969 - Paris, 2026) was an Iranian and French comics author and film director. She grew up in Tehran in the years of the Islamic Revolution, finished secondary school in Vienna and settled in France in the 1990s, where she began to tell her memories of Iran in comics. She is best known for Persepolis, her autobiography in comic form, which she herself adapted into an animated film.
