Pecia is a library for everything you read: what you've read, what you're reading, what you've lent and what you want to read next. And once you know what you want to read, it tells you where to get it: free from your library, or second-hand at the best price.
A library like the one at home
Nobody reads in a single format. On the shelf, paper books sit next to the ones on your Kindle or Kobo, the one a friend lent you and the one you borrowed from the library. In Pecia they all go together, each with what it is and where it is.
And they come in without typing: a photo of the shelf for paper, a cable for your Kindle or Kobo, and your Goodreads or StoryGraph list if you're coming from there.
What to read next, without overpaying
In Spain the law sets the price of new books, so they cost the same everywhere. Where prices move is second-hand. Pecia watches those prices, shipping included, and tells you when a book you want drops below your maximum. Before that, if it's on eBiblio, it tells you that you can read it for free.
For now the prices come from Spanish bookshops. The library works from any country.
What you can use today
- The books: over 200 titles with their second-hand offers, sorted by total price.
- PDF to EPUB and EPUB validation, free and without uploading the file.
- This blog, with guides like how to send an EPUB to your Kindle.
The library with an account (shelves, history, wishlist and alerts) is the next thing we open.
Why Pecia
In the 13th century, universities split books into numbered quires, the peciae, and rented them out one at a time, so those who couldn't buy them could copy them. We didn't invent reusing books: a used book isn't printed again, it just changes shelves.
Pecia is made by one person, part-time, from Barcelona, and built in the open. If you want to suggest something or tell us what's missing, write to hello@pecia.app: every email gets a reply. And to hear when the library opens, ask us to tell you with the button below.
