An essay published by Siruela in 2019 that tells how the book was invented in the ancient world, from oral storytelling and the Greek alphabet to the Library of Alexandria and the first bookshops of Rome. Vallejo sets aside the academic tone and tells it as an adventure, with leaps to the present: from Sappho and women's voices to Seneca and post-truth.

Why we only look at used copies

In Spain, Law 10/2007 fixes the price of new books: the publisher sets it and shops can only take 5% off. Amazon, FNAC and your local bookshop all cost the same. The only place the price moves is second-hand.
