The psychologist Daniel Kahneman, a Nobel laureate in economics, gathers decades of research, much of it done with Amos Tversky, on how we judge and decide. He builds the book around two modes of thinking, one fast, intuitive and emotional, the other slow, deliberate and logical, and from there covers biases such as anchoring and framing, loss aversion, prospect theory and the gap between what we experience and what we remember.

Who it's for
For readers curious about psychology, economics and decision-making who are willing to follow a long book built on many experiments.
Why people still read it
It was a bestseller, won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in 2011 and a U.S. National Academies communication award in 2012, and several outlets named it among the best books of 2011. With psychology's replication crisis, the reliability of some priming studies it cites has been called into question.

Why we only look at used copies

In Spain, Law 10/2007 fixes the price of new books: the publisher sets it and shops can only take 5% off. Amazon, FNAC and your local bookshop all cost the same. The only place the price moves is second-hand.
